S26 Week 2 Update: Mechadendrite death grapple
Sorry not to have gotten to this until now. I was a little overwhelmed with 40k after getting back from the Palm Springs Open this past weekend. Only now has my laspack been recharged. Having said that, there hasn’t been that much to report in Pod 1 with Tre O'Rourke’s World Eaters still munching on the top spot and Randy Robinson’s Space Wolves gnawing on the second spot. Jake Jesionowski’s Grey Knights is in third matching the two frontrunners’ one win apiece. Timothy Sweet's Blood Angels chalice is overflowing at the top of Pod 2 with Evan Berry’s Black Templars only five points behind. They each have a 2 and 1 record and it’s their losses that are keeping them ahead of Stone Freedom(Rock Liberty)’s Thousand Sons in the third spot. He has no losses and is poised to leap ahead of them if he can keep a loss from his door.
Wolflord Russ’s (real) return to the league has taken him to the top of Pod 3 with a win and loss on his record. With only 10% of the games played, there’s a lot of argy bargy left in the Pod work through. Hans Lieber’s Death Guard have claimed the top of Pod 4 with three solid wins. He has set himself up as the one to beat. Andrea Contreras’s Tyranids and David Susko’s Adeptus Mechanicus are in a death grapple atop of Pod 5 with tentacles and mechadendrites flailing all around. Andres has the edge due to a loss on his record but that blade will soon blunt.
James Kang’s Heretic Astartes and Zachary Fullerton’s Thousand Sons find themselves in a similar brawl in Pod 5 with Jame’s loss putting him ahead for now. With only 10% of games played, I imagine that this early squabble will soon be in the past as other punters weigh in. Jacob Bain’s Necrons have claimed the high ground in Pod 7 putting up a couple of wins and an equal number of losses. Almost everyone else in the Pod has a win to their name so they’re all in a good starting point to catch up to their current lord of chrome.
I’ve said this before but there are so many things going on in San Diego’s 40k scene right now so you should get into it. Tickets for the SoCal Open (October 19th and 20th) have dropped and they’ve changed things up. If you have a crew of seven buddies, you should sign up for the team event. Team events are the pinnacle of matched play and one of the most fun ways to 40k. If you’re new to the scene (or are more discerning with your friends) you can sign up as a Free Blade at the event and be placed into an understrength team. It’s a great way to meet people.
Finally, if you like your 40k with a beer in your hand and a battlecry on your lips, you should sign up for the SoCal Open Narrative Event~ Return to Persophone. It’s filling up and is going to be the God Emperor of all Narrative events. Grab your tickets now: https://frontlinegaming.org/2024/07/26/socal-open-2024-is-live/
