S25 Week 8 Update: Final Weekend Update
It makes no difference what men think of war. War endures. As well ask men what they think of stone. War was always here. Before man was, war waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner. That is the way it was and will be. That way and not some other way. As so it is with our league. It’s a rusty blade between ribs, a stub gun firing wildly, and a rotating chain blade casting off gore. Can you turn away? I know you cannot. It is time to sign up for the new league. It is time so return to our stock and trade. Sign up for season 26 today.
The Wolves of Fenris have triumphed in Pod 1 with Neil Braden’s Space Wolves besting Benbo’s Drukhari and going 5/0 in the league (6/0 if you count his ringer). Congratulations buddy, you absolutely earned it and brought glory to the Warmongers! Tre O'Rourke’s World Eaters, with one loss to their name, and Jake Jesionowski’s Necrons with two come in second and third respectively. I don’t see those numbers changing. Congratulations lads.
As I mentioned last week, Adam Funk’s Adepta Sororitas have won Pod 2, hounded by Randy Robinson’s Space Wolves in second place and Marc Torres’ T'au in third. I am not really seeing any way for anyone else in the pod to get themselves into the green zone and move up. Our Pod 1 for next season is looking pretty interesting (two Space Wolf players).
With 100% of their games played, the brutal knife fight that was pod Pod 3 has resolved itself with nobody spared from the bloodletting. Congratulations to Jason Cleveland for taking the Pod with Grey Knights. Jason is going to be shunting all the way to Pod 1. Evan Berry's Black Templars and Coop Guice’s Tyranids will be taking the webway to Pod 2. Congratulations for resolving this bloody Pod.
Once the ringers have been included Mike Mental’s Death Guard will have thoroughly polluted the top spot of Pod 4 and I see no way for anyone to dislodge him. Timothy Sweet's Blood Angels took the second position with Nick Hernandez’ Black Templars cleansing the third spot in the green zone.
In Pod 5, Alex Ivanov’s T'au currently hold the top spot but with four wins there is still a very narrow window for someone in the Pod to grab it. If Stephen Caliendo’s Thousand Sons or Tim Gorodnitski’s T'au, currently in third or second spot, can get in a game tonight or tomorrow, they can take the pod! Get on it lads! Finally, in Pod 6 we must congratulate Paul Gyori’s Blood Angels for a perfect record followed by Sam Black’s Orks. Andres Contreras’ Tyranids and David Susko’s Adeptus Mechanicus round out the green zone and will be moving up the Pods next season. As always, Pod 6 was a whirling melee of blood and viscera and it was fun to watch. Congratulations all.
There are a few final notes to throw at you as we close out this league. First, Coop is getting the Fall Final squared away and should be sending out invitations in September. If you can make it to Pod 3 (or close in Pod 4) you have a chance to get an invite to this invitational exploded tournament (played out over several weeks). Also, we are planning a couple of things for October to keep an eye out for. The Southern California League Championship event is returning on October 18. The best players from San Diego, Orange, and LA (as selected by those leagues) will compete on the Friday before SoCal Open for bragging rights and a massive trophy! Find out more at www.sd40k.com. We will be announcing how folks can get a ticket to that BBQ/40k event (hint: winning helps). Finally, if you haven’t received this message (https://youtu.be/Lm3gFdStdp8) from the edge of the Cicatrix Maledictum, check it out and be ready!
