S27: Week 4 Update: Getting Dragged to the Dark city

There's so much going on this time of year in Southern California’s 40k scene. I wish good fortune to anyone going to the SoCal’s Narrative or Team Events this weekend. I also send my best wishes to our San Diego Team going to the SoCal Champs Invitational on Friday. And most of all, I pray Coop Guice doesn’t burn the burgers! If you're interested in stopping by the SoCal invitational to hang out and chat 40k on Friday~ reach out to Cooper and he'll give you the deets.

The Fall Final tournament has come down to three. Benbo’s Drukhari blasted his way to the top of the semi finals last week beating out Tre O'Rourke’s World Eaters. And, like an Archon hungry to witness the suffering of his foes, Benbo watched as Cooper’s Blood Angels squared off against Jeremy Larson’s Imperial Guard and the Wolflord faced down (Stone Freedom) Rock's Thousand Sons. Cooper had won against David’s AdMec and Victor’s Dark Angels, and he finally overwhelmed Jeremy’s Imperial Guard in round three. The Wolflord bested Mile’s Drukhari and Jake’s Necrons and has now upset Rock’s dominant Tsons for the right to take on Cooper. These two old foes will face off in the quarter finals for the right to take on Benbo in the final itself.

Benbo making it to the semifinals really upset the predictions for the Finals elevating Coop’s Picks to the top spot. Cooper predicted his own rise but he also forecast that he’d be battling Rock instead of Russell in the semifinals. “David Suduko’s Optimised Optimism” predicted Rock and Jeremy’s rise to the top of round three but ran out of gas there. In third place “How many of these can I get wrong…” did successfully predict Benbo’s match up with Tre in the semi finals but not Benbo’s win.

We’ve seen a lot of action in the league itself with many players battling to get to grips with each other. Rock Liberty’s Thousand Sons teleported to the top spot in Pod 1 with two solid wins. Neil Braden’s Space Wolves have taken the top spot in Pod 2 with two (less solid) wins against crowd favorites Jeremy Larsons IG and Hans Lieber’ Death Guard. Owen Bottorff’s Death Guard have turned the top of Pod 3 into a compost pile with a win and a loss while Tony Baumayr’s Astra Militarum stand in second place with a solo win to his name.

With no movement in Pod 4 as yet, we turn to Miles Vollenweider’s Drukhari attempt to drag Pod 3 into the dark city with three healthy wins. James Kang’s Dark Angels are not far behind with two wins and a loss. He’ll be praying that Miles takes a loss to keep the door open for a Watcher in the Dark to sneak into the winning position. Kory Marlatt’s Adeptus Astartes and Michael Pogrebinsky’s T'au battle atop Pod 6 with two wins each and Kory edging out the Xenos for now.

We are on the second round of voting for the Players Choice Award! Please take the 30 seconds to submit your vote! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdIHsOgq15xtAgn82GdVp5eqCWqT_SPTbmFzn8uJpM8oNlBCg/viewform?usp=sf_link
