S27: Week 3: twelve 2++ saves in a row

Welcome to week three of the San Diego Big League. Before we get into the Pods, I want to remind you about the Player’s Choice Award. This award goes to our most popular and most fun player for the year by popular vote. We vote over several rounds until we get a winner. Voting is open right now. Visit our website at sd40k.com/. And now… to war!

Victor Campos’ Dark Angels have staked our a tentative spot on the high ground of Pod 1 with a win and loss. Stone Freedom (Rock Liberty)’s Thousand Sons and Tre O'Rourke’s World Eaters are not far behind with a win each to their names. Victor better fortify his position with a few more wins to make sure he stays ahead of his rivals. Only two points separate Neil Braden’s Space Wolves and Hans Lieber’s Death Guard on top of Pod 2 which makes for a pretty solid stalemate. These two factions haven’t been this close since the Council of Nikaea itself.

Owen Bottorff’s Death Guard hold sway atop Pod 3 with a win and a loss. They can probably hear the guns from Tony Baumayr’s Astra Militarum in second position. He will take the lead with one more win. The calm before the storm holds sway in Pod 4 while Jeremy Salgado and his Adeptus Custodes guard the gate in Pod 5 (again) with a win and a loss. James Kang’s Dark Angels are lurking in second. Finally, in Pod 6 Evan Burnsworth’s Tyranids have taken the high ground with a solid win leaving no points on the table. Kory Marlatt’s Adeptus Astartes and Michael Pogrebinsky’s T'au are not far behind in the second and third spots respectively.

In the Finals Tournament, Tre O'Rourke’s World Eaters chomped their way through Ouhyon Lee’s Tyranids and Randy Robinson’s Space Wolves to meet Benbo’s Drukhari in the Tormented City. After the dust cleared, and an Archon made twelve 2++ saves in a row delivered in one fight phase by Angeron himself; and Angeron returned at the top of turn 5 with little to do but watch; Benbo’s evil elves stand triumphant awaiting their foes in the final match. Benbo had beaten Hans Lieber’ Death Guard the day before and Andre’s Tyranids the previous week. On the other side of the coin, in a classic Finals match up (in more ways than one) we see the Wolflord takes on Rock’s Thousand Sons having bested Miles Vollenweide
