S29: the Big League is never really over
Now here we stand. The Quest is achieved. All the enemies are slain. And now all is over. I am glad you are here with me. Here at the end of all things. The league is finished and I can’t remember the last time we completed so many of our games. With over 90% of games finished across all Pods, this was one of the most engaging leagues in recent memory. True warriors all! But, as with Peter Jackson's LOTR movies, there are always more sequels to make and there is yet another league to sign up for. You have about a week to get signed up for Season 30, the Coopocalypse! (https://tinyurl.com/4xknszpe) For the Big Leagues are never really over, are they Precious? No, they’re not.
At the closing of the day and going down of the sun, Hans Lieber’s Chaos Knights are, once again, at the top of the mountain. For the second season in a row Hans has battled his way to victory. Congratulations! Matt Geyer’s Chaos Demons had the opportunity (with one more victory) to take it but ran out of time and he remained in third. Jeremy Larson’s Deathwatch holds a similar record as Hans but without anywhere near the points. He, once again, takes the second spot. Neil Braden’s Imperial Knights, Dustin Lindgren’s Death Guard, and Jake Jesionowski’s Grey Knights all stand at the top of Pod 2 each with four wins and a loss. Neil managed to pull ahead of Dusin in his last game by one point (despite losing the game). Congratulations Neil and welcome back to Pod 1. Next season’s Pod 1 is going to be really spicy and not for the faint of heart.
Jean Evora’s Deathwatch and Eric Horne’s Adeptus Custodes each took five wins each in Pod 3. Jean has a healthy number of points putting him in first spot and kicking him up to Pod 1 next time. Eric and Joe Bravo’s Ultramarines (in third) will be advancing also next season. Congratulations boys for a battle hard fought! Timothy Sweet's Orks took Pod 4 weeks ago and the battle for the rest of the season over the balance of the green zone was pretty fierce. Juan Jaquez’ Astra Militarum and Stephen Luxford’s World Eaters took second and third place, respectively. Congratulations lads, what a fierce battle!
A draw early in the season ended up curtailing Justin Jones’ Chaos Demons and religating them to second place in Pod 5. David Pavan’s Death Guard steped into first once the Ringer games were tabulated. Congratulations David for the Pod win! Jeremy Crossley’s Astra Militarum blasted their way to third place in the Pod. Congratulations lad’s. It was tough with a Greater Demon of Slaanesh rampaging her way through the Pod. Finally, in Pod 6, we have another twin 5-0 pod finish with Daniel Fortini’s T'au pulling ahead of Tyler Lee’s Ultramarines by a mere ten points. Jason Butler’s and Sean Koch’s Blood Angels both jet their way up the ladder by getting into the green zone. Congratulations on fine victories, gentlemen.
You have a week reprieve. Clean your weapons. Sharpen your blades. The Big League San Diego returns next week and the 30th iteration will be the best yet. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim darkness of the far future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.
