S29: Week 3: a nudy-demon faction specialist
Juan Diego Vasquez’ Adeptus Custodes, Matt Geyer’s Chaos Demons, and Jeremy Larson’s Deathwatch glare across the void at each other and cast insults across the Pod 1 nightmare realm. And I am the only one to hear it. And I must report this to you, for if you were to look upon the pure and unrestrained fury that is Pod 1, your sanity would be driven from you. Less than ten points separate our front runners which means they’re close enough to hear each others taunts over the lines and barricades. While Juan is in front right now, his hold on the top of the Pod is an illusion.
A similar stand off is happening in Pod 2 with Dustin Lindgren’s Death Guard, Jake Jesionowski’s Grey Knights, and Ouhyon Lee’s Tyranids sitting at the bar waiting for someone to make a move. The very next person who insults a tentacle fetish is going to trigger a bar fight like you’ve never seen! With 1-1 records each, Dustin and Jake straight-up tied, and only seven points separating all three of them, it’s about to go down like a fat kid on a see-saw.
Shun Fung Lam’s Blood Angels continue their bloody reign atop Pod 3 by putting up another win. Shun has made a trend of beating the Michaels in the Pod (he’s beaten them both), but it remains to be seen what happens when he faces down other non-Michael opponents. Timothy Sweet’s Orks have battered their way to the top of Pod 4 with three big wins. He’s the warboss to beat at this point. While there are a lot of games to be played in the Pod yet, this early show of force is very orky.
Justin Jones’ Chaos Demons have danced their way to the top the stripper pole in Pod 5. His draw last week gave him the points to get ahead of others who hold a solo win in the Pod. If you haven’t faced down his new Grotmas detachment, it’s a thing. This, combined with Justin being a nudy-demon faction specialist, is seting him to be a strong contender in the Pod. In a struggle as old as The Long War itself, only thirteen points site between Tyler Lee’s Ultramarines and AJ Smith’s Heretic Astartes at the top of Pod 6. With almost everyone in the Pod getting in a game, and a full half having taken a loss, this pod is looking like it’s going to be particularly bloody this season.
With all the Pods getting in at least 15% of their games (and Pod 4 having gotten to 30% of their games done), we’re off to a great start! Keep those dice roll’n and remember, vengeance is in my heart, death in my hand, Blood and revenge are hammering in my head.
