S29: Week 4: Nuke the site from orbit
Jeremy Larson’s Deathwatch have taken the top of Pod 1 with two solid wins and no losses to his name. Despite having a 30% completion rate, most of the heavy hitters in the Pod are keeping their powder dry for now. With a full half of the Pod not showing a loss, it’s still wide open.
Dustin Lindgren’s Death Guard are stinking up the top spot in Pod 2 with two wins and a loss. Neil Braden’s Imperial Knights stand in second place. Dustin will be hoping Neil takes a loss in the coming weeks as Dustin’s loss is the only thing putting him ahead of Neil at this point. This Pod has been particularly bloody already. Only Coop Guice’s Ultramarines and Neil hold no losses which, if they can keep it that way, will be helpful.
Shun Fung Lam’s Blood Angels have held onto the top of Pod 3. His grip isn’t as strong as it was as he added a loss to his two wins. This opens the door for anyone in the Pod who can keep a loss from their record to jump-pack right over this Blood Angels. Right now there are four in the Pod without a loss. Like a Warboss at the head of a huge Waaagh, Timothy Sweet's Orks have swept Pod 4 with a 5-0 record. As odd as it is to say at this point in the season, I declare Tim the winner. Everyone else in the Pod has a bloody gut wound or a broken tooth (toof) and so won’t be able to catch Tim. Congratulations buddy! I am going to spend the rest of the season watching who’s up next!
Justin Jones’ Chaos Demons have held onto their top spot by virtue of his draw earlier in the season. His 2/0/1 record is keeping him ahead of Soren Jorgenson’s Adeptus Mechanicus who have two wins and a loss. With the number of people in the Pod without a loss dwindling, that draw Justin’s column may come in very handy. Daniel Fortini’s T'au nuked the site from orbit atop Pod 1 and hold it with three wins. Tyler Lee’s Ultramarines and Jason Butler’s Blood Angels muster around the Tau’s dropzone (in second and third) ready to take the top of the Pod. They have two wins and no losses to their names. Interestingly, neither of them will be taking on Dan directly.
As we close in on the midpoint in our league, it’s useful here to check out how the meta looks. Tim’s clean sweep of Pod 4 has put orks on the top of the leaderboard with five wins. IG, Blood Angels, Marines (and Ultra Marines) are tied at four wins each, and Demons and Admech is tied for third place with three wins each (among two players in both cases). An interesting off meta ranking (except for IG) which makes me happy. I will say one more thing before I sign off… victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.
