S29: Week 5: a gut wound or a broken nose

All of this has happened before and all of it will happen again rings true for Pod 1 this week as three familiar faces return to the top spots. Victor Campos’ Heretic Astartes bullied their way past Jeremy Larson’s Deathwatch with Hans Lieber’s Chaos Knights coming in third place. Despite being in the top spot, Victor is there by virtue of a loss. His peers, Jeremy and Hans, are both undefeated and if they can keep any blemishes off their record, they’ll eventually eclipse Victor.

A loss for Dustin Lindgren’s Death Guard has put him ahead of Neil Braden’s Imperial Knights in Pod 2~ for now. Neil’s position is still very strong as he’s the only player left in this bloody abattoir without a loss on his record. If he can keep his heraldry clean, he’ll take the pod. If Neil takes a loss, he’ll open the door again t0 others with losses on their records.

Shun Fung Lam’s Blood Angels have cut a bloody swath through Pod 3 and currently are in the top spot. With all his games placed, and holding a 3/2 record, Lam is has reached his high water mark. Eric Horne’s Adeptus Custodes and Jean Evora’s Deathwatch are in second and third spots, respectively, and each have no losses on their records (and two wins). Joe Bravo’s Ultramarines join them as the only one in  the Pod without losses. These three are well poised to battle it out for the top spot.

As was pointed out last week Tim Sweet’s Orks reign supreme atop Pod 4. Greg Kellen’s Necrons, Jason Cleveland’s Thousand Sons, and Juan Jaquez’ Astra Militarum all crowd around the Warboss’ feet trying to make it into the second and third spot. Each has a 2/1 record and only fifteen points separates them so it’ll be interesting who can keep in the Green Zone (and advance next season) and who’ll be kicked off the Island.

Justin Jones’ Chaos Demons are atop the stripper pole in Pod 5 without a loss on the record. There are only two others left in the Pod without a loss who could challenge Justin’s dance moves. David Pavan’s Death Guard and Marc Torres’ T'au have clean records (figuratively in David’s case) and could take a shot at the top spot. Marc is the only punter who’ll actually get to fight Justin~ he better hope he has enough bullets for all those hotties Justin is going to throw at him.

A bloody chess game is happening atop Pod 6 with Daniel Fortini’s T'au leading an unbeaten crew including Tyler Lee’s Ultramarines and Jason Butler’s Blood Angels. All three of them, like Lucious, have managed to carve their way to the top of the Pod without getting any blood on their hands while everyone else in the Pod has a gut wound or a broken nose. Keeping away from a hungry blade will be the key for these guys to stay atop the Pod.

There have been a bunch of dataslate updates and documents uploaded to the GW site so make sure you keep an eye on them (RIP Tantalus). As soon as new rules go live on a website or are available for purchase, they’re live for this league (welcome Death Korps).  And remember, you cannot play God then wash your hands of the things you've created.
