S30: Week 7: Let’s fight, you cowards

Welcome to week seven of the San Diego Big League. Most of the Pods have resolved themselves with may leaving no games unplayed. Great news and I love to see it. As we fully enter the event season, I remind you to sign up for the next season. There is no better way to practice than in the league! https://tinyurl.com/ycbwuxad

There is but one move left to make in order to resolve Pod 1. Matt Geyer’s Chaos Demons stand poised to take it all if he can win his final game. He has been poised for a couple of weeks now and with just a week left to play, he might, like the tripods in War of the Worlds, falter and loose it all. If he doesn't get in his last game, then Jeremy Larson’s Astra Militarum will remain in the top spot with David Susko’s Adeptus Mechanicus in second place. My money is that Matt won’t be able to find the time to get in his final game (after winning the Battle for LA a few weeks back) and Jeremy’s tanks will roll to victory. Congratulations on another top finish, buddy.

Juan Diego Vasquez’ Imperial Knights dominate the top of Pod 2 again with Alex Ivanov’s Asuryani and Juan Jaquez’s Astra Militarum in second and third, respectively. Once the ringers have been tabulated, (Stone Freedom) Rock Liberty’s Chaos Demons with flitter through the webway ahead of them all (Rock is currently in fourth). Joe Bravo and his Ultramarines have a game to play but I don’t think he has the runway to land it. Rock is just too far ahead. Congratulations Rock~ See you in Pod 1 next season.

There is just one game left to play in Pod 3 and it will tell the winner. Right now Tony Baumayr’s Astra Militarum stand in the top spot. Greg Kellen’s Orks and Jeremy Crossley’s Astra Militarum hold the second and third spot. Patrick Bracken’s Genestealer Cult magos may have dreams of leaping to the top of the Pod but he won’t make it. He’d have to win his last game and put up 101 points to emerge from the sewers into the top spot. Congratulations Tony on a tough and bloody fight!

Soren Jorgenson’s Imperial Knights stand dominant, battle horns roaring, atop Pod 4 with a 3-2 record. Benbo’s Drukhari and Coop Guice’s Tyranids are nipping at his iron-shod heels. If these two punters can actually get their game in the next week, they’ll be battling for the top spot. Benbo has an edge here. He takes the top spot if he wins one game (perhaps against a ringer). Coop has to get two games in this week (and win one of them) which seems like a tall order for this baby juggling, golf play’n, mustache wear’n, date night daddy.

Not much has changed atop Pod 5 with AJ Mody’s Necrons calcifying at the top of the Pod. Once ringers are tabulated he has a 4-1 record which will be difficult to beat in this relatively low participating pod. Jan Pferdekamper’s Adepta Sororitas stand in second with Sean Koch’s T'au in third. Dice rolling may flip these two but I don’t think anything will assail AJ at this point. Congratulations, brother.

Tri Le’s T'au remain behind their shield wall at the top of Pod 6 despite Keith Nyberg’s Chaos Demons and their continued predations. Keith could make a move if he can win his last game. It’d make an old remembrancer's heart warm if these two swordsmen could play this week in an ultimate showdown for the Pod. I would wish this more than Denethor wishing his sons had been switched.

With the top four players having finished their games (actually 100% of the games in the pod have been played), Pod 7 has fully resolved itself. Congratulations to Joshuah Singson’s Death Guard for taking the top spot. Devin Pamintuan’s T'au and Noah Whitehead’s Adeptus Custodes are oddly tied for second place and Eric Halverson’s Adepta Sororitas stand in third place and will advance next season. Congratulations Joshuah for a masterful run in a tough pod. Good luck further up the ladder next season.

With one week left, get your games in and be sure to sign up for Season 31~ Space Wolf Hats for Everyone. It’s looking as though this will be the first season with the new Chapter Approved 2025-26: Mission Deck. Good luck to everyone headed to Dicehammer's Orange County 8s next weekend and congratulations to everyone who played at the San Diego Classic this past weekend. It looked super fun (Steven and Kicker Kalozdi are really ramping that event up!) So much great 40k to be had and there’s no excuse not to roll dice!

One more thing I will say is, do not hold your sword drawn out, and say “peace.” I hate that word, just as I hate hell, all Montagues, and you! Now let's fight, you cowards!
