S26 Week 4 Update: A bar Brawl in Pod 7
Jake Jesionowski’s Grey Knights have battled their way to the top of Pod 1 with Randy Robinson’s Space Wolves nipping at their heels. It seems that with every game in this Pod, someone leapfrogs to the front of the pack. As the league ticks on, the leaps are going to have to be of greater and greater distance to keep ahead. In Pod 2, Timothy Sweet's Blood Angels’s have carved their way through the pack to the top spot. With his five games played, and two of them losses, he’s going to have to witness a bloodbath (appropriately) in the Pod below him to keep his top spot. The Pod is off to a good start in this regard giving him what he wants with only one player in the Pod right now holding an unbeaten record~ Mike Mental and his Death Guard.
Victor Campos’ Blood Angels have dominated Pod 3 with four solid wins and a game still to play. With only two others in the Pod with unbeaten records, Victor is well on his way to securing the top spot. Hans Lieber’s Death Guard have similarly dominated Pod 4 with four wins. Hans’ path to keeping the top spot is a little less secure as Ouhyon Lee’s Tyranids, in the number two spot, have no losses. If Victor or Hans can keep a loss from their score sheet they’re in good stead. If either of them adds a loss, they open the door for others who’ve gone 4/1 to take a shot at the top spots.
In Pod 5 Andrea Contreras’ Tyranids and Owen Bottorff’s Space Wolves are locked in a death struggle for the top of the Pod with only 9 points putting Andres in the lead. There is going to be a good amount of blood or ichor (in Andres’ case) on the snow before this is resolved. David Susko’ Adeptus Mechanicus may get the last mechanical laugh because he’s holding two wins in third place. If he can keep any looses off his record, he’ll move to the top spot past his bloodied rivals.
James Kang’s Heretic Astartes hold the top of Pod 6 by virtue of a loss. His record is 2/1. Zachary Fullerton’s Thousand Sons, in the second spot, have the same record and is only 33 points behind. I expect this blood bath to go on for a while as they, and others with similar records, continue to battle it out. Jacob Bain’s Necrons hold the top of Pod 7 with a 2/2 record. James
McCarthy’s Astra Militarum’s, Ryan Navigato’s World Eaters, and Alvin Collins’ Necrons all hold two wins and could step into that top spot with another win to their name. With two losses, Jacob is going to have tough time keeping that top spot as time goes by. This Pod has the feel of a bar brawl and there are a lot of games to be played and punches to be thrown yet.
We are about half way through the league at this point and so you should be rounding in on having completed three of your games. It is not yet the end, it is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.
