S26 Week 3 Update: Just the Facts, Jack. Just the Facts.

Welcome, dear readers, to the third week of the San Diego Big League where the nova cannons shine bright, the banners are wide and inviting, and guard regiments stretch as far as the eye can see...

The ten thousand year war continues atop Pod 1 with Aaron Lopez’ Adeptus Custodes knocking Tre O'Rourke’s World Eaters off the top spot this week. Randy Robinson’s Space Wolves and Jake Jesionowski’s Grey Knights are standing in third and fourth places, respectively. It’s all very diplomatic as all four of them are effectively tied. With a solo win each and only 17 points separating the top four players, at this stage, only the Emperor's Tarot can tell us who’ll gain the upper hand.

Pod 2 is a Necromundian pit fight by comparison as the top three players here have all played four games and all of them have left a lot of blood on the carpet. Evan Berry’s Black Templars stand in the center of the ring for now with three wins and a loss. Timothy Sweet's Blood Angels and Tony Baumayr’s Astra Militarum stand in second and third with two wins and as many losses each. All this bloodletting has opened the door for Stone Freedom (Rock Liberty)’s Thousand Sons to gingerly walk around the combatants as he holds no losses on his record. If he can keep blood off his magic cape he’ll win the Pod as he’s the only one there (of any real talent) who hasn’t taken a loss.

Victor Campos’ Blood Angels remains the lord of Pod 3, his three solid wins holding off the others in the Pod who are busy adding losses to their records. If Victor can avoid a loss there are only three others in the Pod at this point who’ll be able to challenge him (as they don’t have any losses). Hans Lieber’s Death Guard find themselves in a similar position in Pod 4 with three wins and no losses. There are four others here who hold no losses, so Hans’ position is not quite as secure as Victor's. Both Pods 3 and 4 have 75% of their games still to be played so there is still a lot of ammo in the clip for these pods.

David Susko’s Adeptus Mechanicus have pulled ahead in the tentacle war that had been going on in Pod 5 with two wins. His rivals at the top of the Pod are all carrying a loss (some put there by him) so they’ll be hoping he takes a loss that’ll put them back in contention. James Kang’s Heretic Astartes have claimed the top of Pod 5 with two wins and a loss. Like all things Chaos, that loss is the weak spot giving others in the Pod a chance to put up some high scores and chase James back to the Eye of Terror. Jacob Bain’s Necrons retain their top spot in Pod 7 waiting for others in the Pod to put up some scores (Necrons, always with the waiting). John Ralston’s Adepta Sororitas and James McCarthy’s Astra Militarum are the closest to toppling him but they’re going to have top put up some wins to do it.

When looking at our winningest factions we see Blood Angels on top with five wins between two players. Imperial Guard came in second(ish) place with four wins among three players. The third position is a four way tie with three wins between Thousand Sons, Space Wolves, Death Guard, and Black Templars.

And remember, dear readers, as our league continues to heat up. you'll hear about it here first, off the record, on the QT, and very hush hush.
