Season 31: Week 1: The Horror

We have arrived at Season 31! We swoop into battle like the air-cav swarming over the jungles of Luzon carried on the wings of valkyries. The rattle of gunfire all around and explosions casting shrapnel like so many tiny dice. I love the smell of napalm in the morning! The new dataslate is live and this weekend the new cards will be too (if you can get them). By now, your match ups should have been entered into the league spreadsheet and you should be able to schedule your games via discord. If you have any concerns, please reach out to me or Cooper. And now, you must make a friend of Horror. Get roll’n those dice!

In Pod 1 we are starting to see the influence of the new meta with three showings from Emperor's Children and two pairs of Astra Militarum and Imperial Knights each. We also see faction specialists bring Genestealer Cult and Adeptus Mechanicus to the top pod. With several of our perennial Pod 1 winners gone this season, it opens the door for new faces to take the top spot. In Pod 2, we have a diverse mix with Adepta Sororitas, Tyranids, Space Wolves, Necrons, Drukhari, Astra Militarum, and Death Guard being the only duplicated faction. I am going to be watching how the new rules for Space Wolves and Death Guard change up this Pod.

Pod 3 has a great mix with as yet unfeatured performances by Orks, Adeptus Custodes, T'au, Dark Angels, and Votann. Death Guard, Necrons, and Emperor's Children round out this pod with no duplicates at all. Adeptus Custodes are featured twice in Pod 4 with Astra Militarum, Chaos Knights, Adepta Sororitas, Necrons Orks, and Dark Angels bringing faction and meta diversity to the show. Our big’un pod this season, Pod 5, needs some DEI cuts as it’s super diverse and includes Space Wolves, Emperor's Children, Grey Knights, Adeptus Custodes, Imperial Knights, Death Guard, Salamanders, Asuryani, and World Eaters. No duplicates and only a few examples of hot new rules.

This season is looking like its going to be a round-robin of slings, arrows, bare knuckle fists, mass-reactive rounds, chainsaws for bureaucracy, and outrageous fortunes. I hope you all enjoy it and as always, please reach out if you have questions or concerns. Check out our website at [sd40k.com](https://sd40k.com/) because it’ll answer most of your questions… and remember, it's impossible for words to describe what is necessary to those who do not know what horror means. Horror. Horror has a face and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends.
